The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the team has signed safety Micah Abernathy and defensive lineman Shane Bowman.
Abernathy (6-0, 195) was a four-year player for the Tennessee Volunteers, seeing action in 44 games during his collegiate career, recording 128 total tackles, 11 passes defensed, 7.0 tackles for loss and two interceptions. The Atlanta, Georgia native was with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this offseason. He will wear No. 44 for Tampa Bay.
Bowman (6-4, 291) was signed as a college free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason after appearing in 39 games over four collegiate seasons at Washington. The Bellevue, Washington native will wear No. 70 for the Buccaneers.
The team also announced that wide receiver Bryant Mitchell has been placed on injured reserve and offensive lineman Evan Smith has been waived. Tampa Bay's roster stands at 90.
