The Buccaneers selected kicker Matt Gay out of the University of Utah with the 145th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-0, 230-pound kicker won the Lou Groza Award given to the nation's best kicker during his first season with the Utes in 2017. He is a two-time consensus All-American and two-time All-Pac-12 selection, as well.
In 2018, Gay made 26 field goals, good for third in the FBS, with a long of 55 yards. He went a perfect six-for-six against Oregon, setting a career single-game high. The former soccer star earned an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game invite and made the only field goal in the game itself from 47 yards.
