The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today elevated linebacker Deion Jones and wide receiver Tanner Knue from the practice squad for Tampa Bay's Wild Card Round matchup against the Washington Commanders.
Jones (6-1, 222) originally entered the league as a second-round pick (No. 52 overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2016 NFL Draft. Jones appeared in Weeks 17-18 for Tampa Bay, appearing on special teams and recording one special teams tackle. The ninth-year pro has appeared in 111 career games between the Falcons (2016-21), Cleveland Browns (2022), Carolina Panthers (2023) and Buccaneers (2024), making 91 starts and compiling 729 tackles (50 for loss), 53 passes defensed, 24 quarterback hits, 13 interceptions (five returned for touchdowns – tied for most among all active players), 12.0 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Jones has started five postseason games in his career, totaling 33 tackles (three for loss), four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one quarterback hit. He played collegiately at Louisiana State University (2012-15). Jones wears No. 45 for Tampa Bay.
Knue [pronunciation: cuh-NEW (like canoe)] (5-11, 178) originally signed with Tampa Bay as a college free agent on May 10, 2024, spending the offseason and training camp with the Buccaneers before being waived on August 27 and re-signing to the club's practice squad on October 7. Knue played six collegiate seasons at Eastern Michigan (2018-23), recording 154 receptions for 1,866 yards and 17 touchdowns. He earned All-MAC honors in both his fifth and sixth seasons at Eastern Michigan. Knue wears No. 80 for Tampa Bay.
