BUCCANEERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH CHRIS GODWIN

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that the club has agreed to terms on a new contract with Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Godwin.

"Chris has been crucial to our success, and we are excited to ensure he remains a part of our offensive core into the future," said General Manager Jason Licht. "He has an unparalleled work ethic, is a tremendous leader, and is a pro in every sense of the word. His versatility, combined with his playmaking ability and consistency, makes him a perfect fit for our offense."

Godwin returns to Tampa Bay as one of the franchise's most prolific offensive players in team history, ranking second all-time in receptions (579), receiving yards (7,266), receiving touchdowns (39) and 100-yard receiving performances (22) – all of which trail only teammate Mike Evans. He also ranks top 10 in franchise history in total touchdowns (41 – fourth), scrimmage yards (7,340 – fifth) and points scored (254 – ninth).

Since becoming a third-round selection by Tampa Bay (No. 84 overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft, Godwin has appeared in 111 career regular season games (84 starts) and seven career playoff games for the Buccaneers, including starting on the Super Bowl LV championship team. He earned both Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors in 2019 after a career season, which saw him finish third in the NFL in receiving yards (1,333).

Prior to suffering a season-ending injury in Week 7 of the 2024 season, Godwin was leading the NFL in receptions (50) and receiving first downs (33), while ranking second in receiving yards (576) and tied for third in receiving touchdowns (five).

Godwin has recorded 1,000-or-more yards in four of his previous six seasons – tied for the seventh-most in the NFL during that span. He is one of two players in team history with four or more 1,000-yard receiving seasons, alongside Evans, and also joined Evans as the only players in franchise history with 500+ career receptions. Evans and Godwin were the NFL's only teammates to record three consecutive seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards from 2021-23.

Since his breakout season in 2019, Godwin ranks second in catch percentage (73.0% - min. 300 receptions), fourth in yards after catch (2,679) and ninth in receiving yards per game (74.7 – min. 50 games played). He also is tied for the fourth-most games during that span with five-plus receptions and 50+ receiving yards (55).

A native of Middletown, Delaware, Godwin played collegiately at Penn State. He was selected as the team's 2022 Ed Block Courage Award recipient after he overcame a surgically repaired ACL and turned in a career-best 104 receptions that season.
