BUCCANEERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH BEN BREDESON

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today agreed to terms with offensive lineman Ben Bredeson.

Bredeson (6-5, 310) started all 17 games at left guard for Tampa Bay last season, contributing to an offense that established franchise records in completion percentage (71.5%), passer rating (106.8), rushing yards (2,536), yards per rush (5.3) and third-down conversion rate (50.9%).

He has appeared in 62 career games, making 42 starts, since entering the league as a fourth-round selection (No. 143 overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played one season for the Ravens before being traded to the New York Giants, where he spent three seasons (2021-23) before signing with Tampa Bay. Bredeson has also started in one-of-three career playoff games.

"Ben arrived here last season to compete for a starting role, and he capitalized on that opportunity by establishing himself as an important part of our offensive line," said Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht. "He really came into his own playing alongside Tristan Wirfs and his veteran presence played a role in Graham Barton's rapid development. Ben's emergence led to the overall improved play of our offensive line, and we are excited to keep that starting unit together."

Per NFL's Next Gen Stats, Bredeson yielded a 0.5% sack rate in 2024, the third-lowest mark among NFC guards with at least 600 pass blocking snaps. According to Pro Football Focus metrics, Bredeson allowed just three quarterback hits on the year – tied for the third-fewest in the NFL among qualified guards.

The Hartland, Wisconsin, native played collegiately at the University of Michigan (2016-19), appearing in 51 career games and making 46 starts. At Michigan, he received first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2019, second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2017 and 2018, and was named a second-team All-American in 2019. Bredeson was a two-time team captain from 2018-19 and was the recipient of the program's Toughest Player Award in 2018.
