Practice is over. If you're hoping to be a Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader in 2013, it's now time to put your best foot forward.
Open call tryouts for the 2013-2014 Buccaneers Cheerleaders squad will take place this Saturday, February 16, at Buccaneer headquarters. Call times begin at 11:00 a.m. and those intending to try out can secure a preferred audition time slot by pre-registering here. Walk-ups will also be accepted, but candidates may be asked to return at another time. The fee for registering online is $30; there is a $40 application fee for walk-ups.
Many of the women who will begin tryouts on Saturday have already gotten a leg up on the process by attending a pre-audition seminar and one of two optional dance/technique classes that were held in January and February. The classes covered basic dance techniques, NFL-style choreography and kickline drills, giving attendees a better idea of what to expect when the actual auditions begin. However, Buccaneer Cheerleader hopefuls are still more than welcome to audition if they were unable to attend the seminar or either pre-audition class.
Candidates at open call tryouts will be asked to give a brief introduction and then to perform a free-style dance routine in groups of two to three people. Click here for more information on what to expect at Buccaneer Cheerleader tryouts, as well as audition dates and times and the address of team headquarters.
After the opening tryouts, callbacks will take place on Saturday, February 23, also beginning at 11:00 a.m. This round will involve learning a squad routine and performing in groups of two or three. The audition finals begin with a two-day training camp on the evenings of February 26-27 and will conclude with an audition on February 28. Time slots for the final audition day will vary from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Finalists will be asked to take part in personal interviews, fitness assessments, photo shoots and performances of routines taught at the callbacks. They will also learn and perform new choreography and take part in a kickline.
