The Buccaneers made a series of roster moves on Saturday as the team prepares to host the Bears at Raymond James Stadium. The Bucs announced that defensive tackle Akeem Spence is being placed on injured reserve and that running back Mike James is being promoted to the active roster from the practice squad.

For Spence, it's the conclusion of an injury-riddled season. A back injury kept him out for most of training camp and landed him on the Bucs' injured reserve, designation to return list. He re-joined the team in Week 7 and stepped into the starting lineup almost immediately, running with the first-team from Week 8 to Week 14.

Spence injured his ankle in the Bucs' matchup against the Saints in Week 14 and was sidelined last week when the team traveled to St. Louis to take on the Rams. He finished the season with 11 tackles and one sack.

James, a sixth-round draft pick by the Bucs in 2013, spent training camp in Tampa Bay but was waived near the end of September. He was signed to the Bucs' practice squad just days later, where he has remained since. James has 332 rushing yards in 19 career games.
