The last day of the NFL Scouting Combine came on Sunday and showcased some of the speediest performances with the defensive backs taking the field. There were surprises in the form of small school safeties that dominated their position groups. Also, a Pac-12 corner came out of nowhere to secure the best 40-yard dash time of the night and second-best of the entire Combine.
The Buccaneers benefited majorly from this group last year, taking three defensive backs in the 2019 NFL draft. All went on to have prominent roles in the defense, too, and are now thought of as one of the best young core's in the league.
Here are some major takeaways from each of the groups his year and some notable performances.
Cornerbacks
The surprise of the night was Utah's Javelin K. Guidry, who not only ran the fastest time of those in his group, but recorded the second-fastest 40-yard dash at the combine with a blazing 4.29 behind only Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. Guidry also performed well in the bench press almost contradictorily.
Jeff Okudah, who is by far and away considered the best corner in this class, and the best to come out of college in some time perhaps, solidified himself as just that. He did everything he was supposed to do and then some. After running a 4.48 40-yard dash, he banged his head on the turf in one of the on-field drills. He was advised to not continue his night, but insisted on doing his jumps, anyway. In fact, it took Primetime Deion Sanders to convince him to limit himself at all. Okudah tied for the best vertical among the group with a ridiculous 41.0 inches and took the top spot in the broad jump, leaping 135.0 inches (or 11'3").

Safeties
It was two small-school prospects that ran away with testing numbers in the safety group. Both Lenoir-Rhyne's Kyle Dugger and Southern Illinois' Jeremy Chinn had eye-popping performances in nearly every major category. They backed it up on the field, too. Both looked smooth and comfortable – and big. Dugger is 6-2.
Meanwhile, highly touted prospect Xavier McKinney out of Alabama did well and Minnesota's Antoine Winfield Jr. shined. It's very clear through not only his physical abilities but how he did in interviews that Winfield has heeded the advice of his father, long-time NFL safety Antoine Winfield.
