
Head Team Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. John Zvijac enters his 12th season as the Buccaneers head team orthopedic surgeon in 2009. Zvijac’s contributions were vital to the Buccaneers as the club claimed its first Super Bowl title in 2002 against the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII while also capturing three NFC South division titles in the past seven seasons. Overall, he has been a part of four division titles with the Buccaneers. Dr. Zvijac is a professor at the University of Miami School of Education, Department of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, as well as a professor in Exercise and Sports Science at Florida International University. In addition, he is a member of the Athletic Training Education Advisory Board at Florida International University. He is in private practice at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Coral Gables.
Zvijac is also the team physician for the Florida Panthers, University of Miami and Florida International University, while providing medical care for all Miami-Dade County Public High Schools.
Zvijac graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He also fulfilled an additional year of fellowship training in arthroscopy and sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.
